Conservation and Community Development

The Mangrove Action Project works closely with several villages in the area to promote the rights of traditional and indigenous coastal peoples, including fishers and farmers, to sustainably manage their coastal environs.

Naucrates works to conserve mangrove forests and sea turtles on Koh Phratong, Naucrates accept volunteers between November and March.

Reef Check Thailand is dedicated to understanding and conserving Thailand's coral reef and marine ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. The project is based at the Koh Ra Eco Lodge.

The Kampuan Community Learning Centre and Tsunami Museum provides training in computers, micro-enterprising, natural resource development and disaster preparedness. There are also meeting facilities, accommodation and an informative tsunami museum.

IUCN, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature is the world's oldest and largest global environmental network, helping the world to find pragmatic solutions the most pressing environment and development challenges.
