The Praphat Beach Fishing Group, lead by Bao Pongprasert and 10 board members, has a good understanding of sustainability, and, in 2007, a workshop on coral reef was arranged for the group members by Reef Check. An example of such mindset, even before the workshop, is that members only park their boats at provided buoys in reef areas.

After the tsunami, some villagers became more aware of mangrove’s value, so they gather to plant mangrove trees, using their traditional environmental knowledge from real life experiences. There is a plan to build seedling nursery in the future and some of the locals also work with Andaman Coastal Research Station for Development.
